This tour takes you on all-terrains through the Rosental valley in the south of Carinthia and through the Lakes Valley back to Lake Wörthersee. While you are riding along the gravel road on the Drava cycle path, only the rugged Karawanks separate you from Slovenia.
The “Chapel of the Forgotten Souls” is a contemporary witness of the combined construction of the railroad tunnel to Slovenia and the cruelly separating Carinthian “Abwehrkampf” (“Austro-Slovene conflict in Carinthia”) – you can reach it by taking a detour from the route.
Wonderful views and landscapes accompany you through the Rosental before you slowly head north again at Maria Rain, after visiting two lost places. You will cycle through the entire Keutschacher Seental and at the same time learn a lot of historical facts and go up to Kathreinkogel, a landmark that was already settled in prehistoric times.
